CHAIRMAN, KWARA STATE COLLEGE OF HEALTH TECHNOLOGY OFFA INUAGURAL SPEECH

The Provost, Principal Members of this great institution, distinguished Board Members, Ladies and Gentlemen.

All praises and adoration are due to the Almighty God Who Has preserved us to witness today. I welcome you all to this special Meeting. I salute you with a heart of appreciation and hope, that in spite of the challenges of our time, we have all united to reposition this College and proceed to attain greatness.

My heartfelt appreciation goes to His Excellency, Alhaji (Dr.) Abdulfatah Ahmed, the Executive Governor of Kwara State for the confidence reposed in me by appointing me as the Board Chairman of this great College of Health Technology, Offa. I am also grateful to our leader in Kwara State, Senate President Bukola Saraki for facilitating my appointment as the Chairman of this institution. I also salute you all, distinguished members of this Board, for your tenacity, abiding faith and love for this great College.

More still, I salute the visionary men and women, the forerunners that have generously nurtured this college on the challenging journey of leadership and institution building, sometimes at great personal costs. We now urgently need to work together towards re-positioning of our College to enviable height of progress, rebuilding and mending broken fences if any for greater achievements. We must all work together to consciously protect the ideals and legacies bestowed on us by our fore-runners.

Ladies and gentlemen of this great institution, today is not the right time for long speeches. It is time for swift actions that bring dividends of institutional progress and change. Believe me, the much needed change has to be drastic, swift and far-reaching and must be fast-tracked with all legally available resources at our disposal.

The Positive Change in Health Technology, Offa needs to be put in place: to stabilise the college, in terms of restoring the culture of inclusiveness, openness, transparency in governance that enhance our collegial enterprise, attaining industrial peace and harmony, stable academic calendar, peaceful and conducive learning environment that will be in line with vision and mission of this college. This change will also enhance the college’s social engineering services to the community, a culture of prompt release of students’ examination results. It will also encourage and sustain self-uprightness and diligence at work, leading to prompt restoration of our good image and the public confidence in our institution.

So, let’s in Unisom approach my tenure here as the dawn of a new day and new beginning with vigour, in unity, faith, truth, love, hope and expectations.

I will, on your behalf, and in the interest of the college, courageously attempt all the changes that adore the life of this institution in fairness, justice and truth. With God on our side, I will work diligently to restore the integrity, sanctity and vibrancy of the college and to ensure that our working environment is safe and pleasant to effective teaching and productive learning. All these are yet achievable through your prayers and support. I therefore mostly humbly plead for sincere and genuine support from all of you. I believe we all agree that our greatness lies in unity of purpose.

Meanwhile, the development of this college shall be our great concern. We shall always liaise and seek more assistance and support from His Excellency towards ensuring proper well-fare for the staff and students of this great institution. We shall do all necessary but onerous assignments to move the college forward and bring rapid development to the institution.

I strongly believe and hope that every member of this noble Board and institution will kindly follow me in our path to enviable greatness in this college. I will always welcome suggestions and proposals of how to successfully move this college forward from kind-hearted men and women like you.

Honourable ladies and gentlemen of the Board, please let us put the interest of our noble college beyond our personal interests so that we can leave our memorable footsteps while we perform our statutory roles in this college. I most humbly appeal to sycophants, schemers, divide-and-rule, unexpected and respected evil perpetrators as well as human serpents to mend their ways or else steer clear of me. Please kindly join me in praying for the success of our collective efforts.

There is hardly enough time and resources to achieve all things. But, I will do all within the available materials and financial resources to reduce the inevitable but momentary pains of rebuilding on all of us the stakeholders, especially staff and students.

Distinguished colleagues, I plead that as Board members, we continue to provide strategic, bold, stable and prosperous leadership in our domains, conduct the business of Board, and all meetings with promptness, diligence and determination. This will portray us as leaders of an institution with the capacity to drive the college into the attainment of its lofty ideals.

Finally, undoubtedly as a person, I foresee a number of daunting challenges. They are not, however, insurmountable. I most strongly believe that our college is again at the epoch of a greater tomorrow and I am confident that by the end of our tenure, we shall all have course to be grateful to the Almighty. With God on our side and your support, we shall succeed.

May the Almighty God bless you all as I thank you for your attention.

Hon CT Ayeni,
Chairman, College of Health Technology
